Coronavirus In-office Policies

Starting June 8th Early Intervention Associates will be open for in-office appointments!

We are so excited to be back in the office! The safety for our families and staff is our top priority.  Based on guidance from the CDC, American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and the American Physical Therapy Association, EIA has new guidelines for infection control.  These include:

  • Wearing of masks, goggles, gloves and gowns, when appropriate, for all staff
  • Sterilization of all equipment and toys following manufacturer recommendations for sterilization
  • Sessions are restricted to one treatment room
  • The office has been disinfected with carpet cleaning and cleaning of toys/equipment.

Please read our regulations carefully

Wellness survey – a wellness survey will be emailed to you the day before your appointment.  You are asked to respond to the survey questions prior to arriving for your appointment.  If you answer “yes” to any questions regarding exposure to COVID-19, your appointment will be rescheduled or switched to telehealth.  Please consider these questions the morning of your appointment, if you or your child’s status has changed overnight.

Telehealth – telehealth appointments are still available for any who wish and are encouraged if you or your child present with any risk factors for adverse effects of COVID-19.  Please refer to the CDC website for these risk factors.

Client Arrival – All clients are asked to wait in their car and text their therapist at the number provided when you arrive.  If you and your child are comfortable, it may be advisable for you to wait in your car during your child’s session and their therapist will return them to you along with a session debrief.

Parent attendance – We ask that only 1 parent/guardian be in attendance if you are entering the session.  Siblings are asked to remain outside the office to limit the number of people in the session.  We advise that grandparents not attend session for their health and safety.

Temperature checks – All clients will have their temperature screened using an infrared, touchless thermometer before the session.  Any patient arriving with >99oF will be asked to reschedule or participate in a telehealth appointment instead.

Masks – Children 2 years old and younger are not required to wear a face mask per AAP guidelines.  Infants are encouraged to be covered in the carrier to prevent risk of exposure when entering and exiting the session.  Children 3 years and older are highly encouraged to wear masks when possible.  We understand if wearing a mask is a challenge for your child, please contact your therapist if this applies to your child.

Hand washing/hand sanitizer – All parents/guardians and children will be asked to wash their hands using soap and water as they enter the session.  Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the clinic and can be used as needed.

No Exceptions

Travel Policies

Many families are looking to travel as the end of the school year approaches and we move into summer.  Given that children are not eligible for vaccinations, our policy regarding quarantine following travel is as follows:
  • For travel within Maryland, DC, or northern Virginia – no quarantine is needed, however please follow all state guidelines for safety to the best of your ability.  If your child begins to experience any symptoms of illness, please cancel or reschedule your child’s appointment as needed.  If your family has been in contact with large groups of people, we require a 7-day quarantine prior to returning to the office.
  • For travel within in the U.S. – 7-day quarantine with no signs of illness during that time is required prior to returning to the office.
  • For international travel – 10- day quarantine with no signs of illness during that time is required.  We request your child and the caregiver bringing the child to PT receive a negative COVID-19 test taken 3-5 days after returning to the U.S. before they return to the office.

If anyone in your family has been exposed to COVID-19 while traveling, at work, school, or daycare, we urge you to be in contact with your therapist to cancel or reschedule your appointment to telehealth.
